Palace appeals for lifting of advisories vs. RP

Malacanang yesterday appealed to countries issuing travel advisories on their citizens against going to the Philippines to make it clear that only certain parts of Mindanao are under terrorist threats and not the entire archipelago.

Palace says Australian travel advisory unfair to RP

Malacanang branded on Tuesday the travel advisory issued by Australia as “unfair”, saying travel advisories should not “encompass the whole country”. Bunye said travel advisories should be more specific because the peace and order problem is generally confined to a few places in Mindanao.

Palace rattled by travel advisories, insists RP safe

The Palace stressed to the international community that it should not view the entire country as dangerous territory. Pres. Arroyo, through Bunye, said she understands the concern of other countries regarding the safety of their respective nationals, but that they must also realize that the Philippines, as a whole, is a safe destination.

China to declare open skies in Hainan

In contrast to RP, China will free up air flights in Hainan province as it tries to compete in the tourism market in Asia. China is said to declare an open-skies policy in Hainan to help the southern island compete with rival tourist centers in Asia.
