OVER 100 houses were razed by fire early Wednesday morning (30th of April 2003) in a barangay inside a former military reservation in Makati City, GMA 7's "Unang Balita" reported. Burned to the ground were the houses of more than a hundred families living near the corner of F. Macday and JP Rizal Streets in Barangay Cembo  in Makati. Initial investigation showed the fire started at 4:45 a.m. and was put out at 6:15 a.m. The blaze was allegedly caused by an unattended lighted candle in the house of a certain alias "Etong" after a marijuana session with friends. There were no reported casualties or injuries.

We found this message more by accident in the Philippine news. Such a dramatic event (actually more than 150 houses were destroyed) was not even mentioned in the European news. Our members made an immediate collection and donated close to 20000 Pesos.

March 25, 2003

At the foundation party one of the sponsors won his own donated prize. Instead of keeping the prize he donated it immediately to Ka mag-anak. The prize was a Balikbayan Box to any location in the Philippines.

We have decided that we fill this box with children's clothes and maybe a few toys and ship this to a children's home in the Philippines. Therefore we ask now everybody to donate used but still usable clothes for our very first shipment. We want to make some children happy. The status of the box will be made public here. Please use the contact form when you would like to contribute to the box.
